One of the nation’s highest gains ultra marathon – the DRTE 100® [Dirt Roads & Trail Endurance ] debuts in 2009 with an a**-kicking 100-mile point-to-point through the Santa Barbara front country. This virgin course is relentless, with 34,989-ft. of gains and 34,753-ft. of losses, starting near sea level: so no altitude acclimatization is needed. October 1 – 4, 2009; hosted at Rancho Oso, just 45 minutes from Santa Barbara Airport.

Our extreme ultra marathon, paddleboarding and endurance events are professionally organized and run, and community, environment and family friendly.
Blacksmith Endurance® was founded in 2006 by lifelong Santa Barbara resident Robert A. Gilcrest, who says,
